EFT Core Skills Training in Irvine, CA: June & Sept. 2015

June 4, 2015

EFT Core Skills Training in Irvine, CA

About Core Skills

EFT training is safe and supportive, with the deeply held belief that by supporting each other, we can all grow to become accomplished couple therapists. Core Skills participants often “bond” with each other and their trainers, forming long-term supportive relationships.

Participants are expected to be actively engaged in some couples work and to regularly videotape and review their own work.

Core Skills Advanced Training consists of four two-day workshops. These workshops provide an in depth study of each of the EFT steps. Each day will contain instruction and group supervision of EFT work according to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Excellence in EFT (in Ottawa). Each weekend provides twelve hours of training. When you sign up for the course you are committing your intention to complete all four weekends.

There will be opportunity for participants to get feedback on videos of their own work with clients. Bringing your own video to view is necessary to meet the Advanced Externship requirement of certification.

Attendance qualifies participants for Advanced designation with 48 hours of group supervision (CEUs provided by Alliant International University)* which can be applied to EFT Registration.

The only outstanding requirement for Certification after attending Core Skills Training is eight hours of individual supervision. The application process is described on www.eft.ca. Final decision regarding readiness for certification is determined by the EFT Centre in Ottawa.

Trainer: Mark A. Kaupp, Psy.D., LMFT

Certified EFT Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer

Dr. Mark A. Kaupp is a licensed MFT and a certified EFT therapist, supervisor and trainer. He is also an adjunct professor in both Alliant International University and San Diego State University’s COAMFTE approved graduate programs teaching Couple Therapy. Qualifications

Participants are required to have completed the 4-day EFT Externship and be willing to present their own work through videotape presentation.

Participants must be licensed therapists or license-eligible psychotherapy interns or otherwise legally allowed to practice as mental health professionals.

It’s ideal for participants to have prior experience working with couples and have at least one couple on their current caseload willing to be videotaped for case consultation and feedback of their clinical work.

Completing the registration and first payment enrolls the applicant in the full course and reserves the space for attendance in all sessions of the training and is a declaration of intent to complete the course. This is important because space in the course is limited.

We have found over the years that Core Skills works best when all participants attend all sessions. Though we know sometimes exceptions need to be made. We can work with you regarding special and unforeseen circumstances.

NOTE: ICEEFT does not offer the Certification as EFT Therapist to non-licensed professionals. All participants must be familiar with and commit to abide by all HIPAA regulations.

*More information about the Case Presentation Video Requirement:   You will do one case presentation displaying your work with a couple for consultation and feedback about working in the EFT model. The date of your presentation will be assigned. The overall presentation is approximately 30 minutes, 10 minutes of case overview and up to 20 minutes of video review.

Approximately 10-20 continuous minutes
Case presentation form completed (see Forms drop down menu)
Copies of case presentation to hand out to each course participant if it was not emailed to participants 5 days before presenting
Bring digital media on DVD or USB storage device

EFT Externship in Scottsdale, AZ on June 25th – 28th, 2014

January 5, 2014
Copyright © 2014 Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, All rights reserved.

EFT will transform your work with couples and families.

Working with families and couples is challenging and can feel overwhelming.EFT provides the practitioner with a powerful way to understand how relationships work, what causes distress and how to help people make lasting change in their relationships.

EFT will change how you understand relationships and human resilience.

EFT and attachment theory help us to understand how important our relationships really are. EFT has synthesized attachment theory, humanistic psychology, experiential therapy and family systems into a structured approach to help couples and families make lasting changes in the foundation of their relationships.

EFT is the fastest growing, evidence-based and research-grounded approach to working with couples and families.

Since 1981, when Sue Johnson first developed this approach, a growing body of research has demonstrated the efficacy of EFT with distressed couples. For the therapist, EFT provides a structured approach and a deep understanding of our clients and their struggles.

The Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

This is a four-day basic training that will give you a foundation for working with couples and families. This training is the prerequisite for all other EFT trainings and the first step towards certification as an EFT therapist. There will be a combination of theory and experiential practice of the model. There will be two live demonstrations by the trainers of Emotion Focused Therapy with couples.

This training is for mental health professionals who would like to improve their work with couples and families. Students are welcome.
